Philosophy
Do good. Have fun. Make money.
This is the triple bottom line that I have for my business, and that I hope you have for yours.
“Make money” used to be the only criterion for measuring business success. Today, better companies also consider the well-being of the environment, community, and its staff as part of their bottom line. To this, I add a third criterion for great companies: it’s got to be fun. Not only because fun fuels good work and profitability, but because fun is worth pursuing for its own sake.
Creating happiness is what it’s really all about. If you ask me, sustained happiness (or “joy”, to use an older word that deserves reviving) requires two things: (1) a variety of temporal pleasures (that’s the “have fun” part) and (2) a confidence that one is part of and contributing to a greater good (that’s the “do good” part). Money has no intrinsic value, but it is essential fuel for a company that allows people to do good and have fun.
Do good. Have fun. Make money.
And call me if you need help with your game plan.
